Maintaining An Attitude of GratitudeI love the fall season & I especially like Thanksgiving. For me it holds so many special memories. Through the years, as a family, one of our traditions has been everyone shares something they are thankful for and each one reads a poem, does a skit, sings a song - something special for each individual - it is a great time of family fun. We have laughed and cried together as we have shared things that have happened to us through the years. I think Thanksgiving is important because it puts things in to perspective - that we should be thankful not just for one day but for every day of our lives. When I was driving the other day I read a church sign that said ATTITUDES ARE CONTAGIOUS ARE YOURS WORTH CATCHING I thought that was a keeper - it is so easy for us to grumble and complain - life is difficult at times, our economy is bad, so much sickness, so many problems in the world. So I was thinking if we all could maintain an attitude of gratitude - we could see things differently. If we were thankful then are attitudes would be worth catching!! Following are some suggestions for maintaining a grateful attitude 1. Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength Maybe make your own list to help you maintain an attitude of gratitude. God's Word if full of Thanksgiving Scripture, find a special one for you & put it to memorization. A favorite one of mine is Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything , by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6 Have a great Thanksgiving!!!! |
