Maintaining An Attitude of Gratitude

I love the fall season & I especially like Thanksgiving. For me it holds so many special memories. Through the years, as a family, one of our traditions has been everyone shares something they are thankful for and each one reads a poem, does a skit, sings a song - something special for each individual - it is a great time of family fun. We have laughed and cried together as we have shared things that have happened to us through the years. I think Thanksgiving is important because it puts things in to perspective - that we should be thankful not just for one day but for every day of our lives.

When I was driving the other day I read a church sign that said

ATTITUDES ARE CONTAGIOUS ARE YOURS WORTH CATCHING

I thought that was a keeper - it is so easy for us to grumble and complain - life is difficult at times, our economy is bad, so much sickness, so many problems in the world. So I was thinking if we all could maintain an attitude of gratitude - we could see things differently. If we were thankful then are attitudes would be worth catching!! Following are some suggestions for maintaining a grateful attitude

1. Love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength
2. Spend Time in The Word
3. Spend time praying & praising God
4. Wake up each day with a happy heart
5. Share the love of Jesus with your family & friends
6. Smile at people
7. Don't forget to thank people - send thank you notes or emails
8. Encourage others that may be going through a hard time
9. Help others out - it may be giving a ride to someone, making a meal, chocolate chip cookies, a listening ear, or helping them fix something - find a need and do your part of fulfill that need

Maybe make your own list to help you maintain an attitude of gratitude. God's Word if full of Thanksgiving Scripture, find a special one for you & put it to memorization. A favorite one of mine is Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything , by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. Philippians 4:6

Have a great Thanksgiving!!!!
